Media Center’s Publishing
The MediaCenterfirst tried its hand in publishing in 1995 with Mark Thompson’s seminal book Forging War: The Media in Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, starting a string of so far 19 books and two serial publications - MC FILE and NEWS ON MEDIA - forerunners of the current MC’s electronic MEDIA MONITORING edition.
The titles clearly reveal the focus on journalist education (NEWS WRITING AND REPORTING FOR TODAY`S MEDIA, THE PUBLIC IN COURTROOMS, THE SERBIAN PRESS, MEDIA FREEDOMS – RIGHTS AND LIMITATIONS); the position, role and (ab)use of the media (FORGING WAR; THE WAR started on maksimir: Hate Speech in the Media; WHISTLES AND EGGS: Serbian Media in 1996; THE MEDIA AFTER OCTOBER 5; THE DOWNFALL OF SERBIAN JOURNALISM); and dramatic social and political developments and movements (THE LAST DECADE, HEY HO, LET’S GO FOR A WALK - Civil and Student Protest 96/97; ELECTORAL THEFT; OCTOBER 5). The current publishing plans are generally linked with specific MediaCenter’s projects.

Accession to the EU
Dr. Duško Lopandić and Dragan Bisenić, eds.
The redrawing of the political and economic map of Europe in 2004 increases the fears in Western Balkans that it will be left on the margins of the new integrated Europe. This would mean that, instead of catching up with the rest of the continent, these countries may fall still further behind and away from integration and its promise of regional stability.

Ethics and Journalism
"Profession Journalist 2003."
The study presents the findings of a Media Center initiated survey with the participation of 43 journalists who responded to the total of 2640 questions. Their answers qualify the current situation in the journalist profession as amateurish, derogate, inferior, obsequious, poor… Generally speaking, the research team shares the prevailing impression of strong dissatisfaction with the journalist profession, situation in the media, the position of journalists, the conditions for their work, standard of living, attitudes of politicians and businessmen and the prevailing lack of self-criticism... all of which is indicative of a chaotic situation in journalist trade.

THE LAST DECADE - Serbian Citizens in The Struggle for Democracy and An Open Society (1991-2001)
Group of authors
Editor: Velimir Curgus Kazimir
The publishing of this book was assisted by the Fund for An Open Society and FabriaArt, Belgrade.
`The Last Decade` is a unique documentary and artistic testimony of the Serbian citizens’ resistance to war, hatred and tragic rule of the 1991-2000 Slobodan Milosevic’s regime. It is not a history of political and state collapse – rivalry among political parties, nationalistic plans and programs, but a simple story about fates of thousands of people that persistently and bravely opposed such politics. In a way, the book is a reminder of people’s destinies and events that marked the last decade.
