Professional standards

Courts and prosecutor's offices should find a balance between the confidentiality of legal proceedings and the public's right to be informed about such proceedings, while journalists who report on judicial processes should be more responsible and better informed – this is the conclusion reached by the members of the round table organized by the Association of Independent Electronic Media (ANEM). Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Protection of Personal Data Rodoljub Sabic is of the opinion that governmental or judicial bodies are delivering exclusive information to some newspapers in Serbia. The commissioner pointed out that in a traditional society, which lack confidence in institutions, it was unacceptable to forbid the public to comment on anyone's work, including the judiciary.
