The Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) is concerned because of the fact that the mandate of the protector of citizens, Sasa Jankovic, expired on 23 July, while his successor has not been elected. We appeal on the National Parliament of Serbia to complete the procedure of election of the protector of citizens as soon as possible and allow the functioning of the institution in its full capacity. We remind that the Constitutional Court of Serbia has judged the restrictive provisions of the Law on Public Information unconstitutional at the initiative of the protector of citizens, Sasa Jankovic.
