Modern means of communication, like social networks, are still not widely used in the local political scene, and the Government of Serbia does not have presence on Twitter and Facebook – this is the result of the media monitoring conducted in Serbia by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation. The research also shows that the activity of political parties in social networks has sharply dropped immediately after the end of the election campaign.

TV Pink 2 was launched on the position that was held by TV Avala in cable distribution systems. “Due to digitalization and expansion of cable providers, which now hold no less than 70 percent of the territory of Serbia, the very concept of allocation of nation-wide broadcasting frequencies is becoming meaningless. All broadcasters will have their viewers, and those with highest-quality content will be able to attract more viewers”, said the leader of Pink, Zeljko Mitrovic. “I had only two days to come up with something new when it became clear that TV Avala was going to be shut down. TV Pink 2 was created in no more than two days. We responded to events as quickly as we could and launched a new channel that will cause tectonic shifts in the media scene”, added Mitrovic.

Digitalization

Consumption of digital content, i.e. downloading of media products in the digital form has tripled worldwide between 2006 and 2010, and it keeps growing.

The web portal Novinarnica the Center for Promotion of Science presented at the Book Fair in Belgrade a concept of reading newspapers, magazines and books in digital formats. The portal offers online around 180 different magazines and newspapers which are published in Serbia and other countries of the region.
