Privatization and the state-owned media

Rumors and never-proven suspicions that TV B92 and TV Prva have the same owner – the Greek company Antenna – have been additionally increased recently because of the unusual cooperation of the two TV companies with regard to broadcasting of the Roland Garros tennis tournament, reports the daily newspaper Informer. The first six rounds were aired by B92, while semifinals and finals were aired by TV Prva. This kind of cooperation between two competing TV companies is certainly not common practice. The public had previously speculated that the ownership structure of B92 was "faked" i.e. that Greek businessman Theodore Kyriakou had bought this TV station as well. Goran Karadzic from the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RRA) said to Informer that the RRA had previously investigated whether TV B92 and TV Prva had the same owner, which would be in violation of the law, but that official documentation did not show any specific connection between these two TV stations.
