A delegation of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) will be visiting Belgrade on 17-18 July 2017 in order to observe how effectively the funds of the European Union are spent in Serbia, evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the structures in place which plan and implement pre-accession funds and assess Serbia’s plans to maintain administrative capacity in this field.
On the first day of their visit, the delegation of European Parliament (EP) members will meet representatives of the Serbian Audit authority, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry for European Integration, the EU Delegation in Serbia. During these meetings, a number of projects implemented with EU pre-accession funds (IPA) will be discussed, especially those in the fields of pre-accession assistance management and capacity building as well as projects supporting SME development in Serbia.
On the second day of the visit, the delegation will visit different EU-funded projects in Belgrade and Obrenovac after which a press conference will take place to summarise the delegation's findings.
After visiting Serbia, the EP delegation is heading to Croatia to take a look at different projects financed by IPA and structural funds, as well as Croatia’s plans to increase administrative capacity.
