The Independent Journalists' Association of Serbia (NUNS) supports the demand of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) that journalists and other media professionals be released from prisons in Burundi, China, Erithrea, Ethiopia, Iran, Turkey and Yemen. At its last meeting held on March 24, 2012 in Brussels, the Executive Committee of the IFJ decided that arrest and imprisonment of Journalist would be the global topic of the World Press Freedom Day, celebrated on May 3.

The Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RRA) examined the report on frequent appearance of children in the videos made by participants of the political campaign and aired by the electronic media. On the basis of the Articles 8 and 19 of the Law on Broadcasting, the Council warns the broadcasters that they should be especially careful to avoid abuse of children and violation of their dignity.

On March 1, 2012, the Republic of Serbia became the candidate for EU membership. Therefore, the Republic Agency for Electronic Communication now has the right to participate as an observer in the activities of the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC).

Citizens have increasingly been submitting complaints to the Republic Agency for Electronic Communication (RATEL) because of interference in the reception terrestrial radio and TV programmes. Their complaints say that the interference is caused by nearby radio stations that are part of networks of telecommunication providers. RATEL separately investigates each case of reported interference.

On 17 April 2012, the Managing Board of the Republic Agency for Electronic Communication (RATEL) adopted Amendments to the Enumeration Plan. The Ministry of Culture, Media and Information Society informed the Agency that there were no complaints from the constitutional and legal points of view.

The Managing Board of the Media Association has appointed two vice presidents, Robert Coban and Zoran Sekulic, and adopted several decisions aimed at further improvement of the operations of the Media Association and creation of conditions for approval of new members.
